After one year in new French oak, outstanding barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon from vines that were pruned right back to produce exceptionally concentrated fruit, were blended with 5% Merlot. This blend was then put back into the barriques for a total of 30 months.

This wine has an appealing, upfront nose with plenty of ripe black fruit aromas and whiffs of tobacco pouch, leather, fynbos and subtle spicy notes, reminiscent of vanilla and cinnamon. On the palate, the characteristics found on the nose follow through with tantalizing layers of flavor and rich with ripe fruit, wonderful structure, and excellent balance. This wine has excellent aging potential and will only be truly expressive in two or three years time as the firm tannins soften and integrate.
